  1. Humm… changing my mind about wanting to keep bees. They appear to have even more desire to escape than our goats used to.

      Swarming is their method of reproduction. I have a post planned to outline what a swarm is. If the bees do get away you typically still have a colony left behind.

      No not really. It’s a sign the colony is healthy enough to reproduce. If they get away it’s not the end of the world. I just try to collect them if I see them so they don’t end up in someone’s house or something.

    Is that a bait hive positioned there? Are the bees entering it or must you suck them out with a bee vac?
    Have bees swarmed to that particular portion of gutter? Enshrine it and never let water hit it again. ūüėÄ

  3. I wish my swarms were that easy to collect!

      That one was actually the most difficult so far this year. It was my first one that was not on a branch. You can’t just shake them off a gutter they have to decide to accept the box and march in. That’s where the frame of brood came in handy. 9 times out of 10 they won’t leave brood.
